Though some may dispute, Run DMC is, and always will be, hip-hop’s most important group. If you aren’t sure why, be sure to check out “Ultimate Run DMC,” a CD/DVD covering the career of the Hollis trio.

The 2 disk set will feature 18 of their best songs, 14 video clips and a mini-documentary. The majority of the songs will come from their first three albums; “Run DMC,” “Raising Hell,” “Tougher Than Leather.” There will be a couple special inclusions, a live version of “Together Forever (Krush Groove 4)” and the ultra-rare “Here We Go” from 1983.

The DVD includes videos of the some of their best-known songs, “Walk This Way,” “King of Rock,” “It’s Tricky,” “Mary, Mary,” “Rock Box” and the 1997 remix version of “It’s Like That (Run-D.M.C. vs. Jason Nevins).” The DVD is mixed in 5.1 surround-sound. The album drops October 28th (also my birthday, feel free to send gifts).
