Back in 1998 DMX became the first artist to have two albums reach the Billboard 200 in the same year. In 2003 X has set another sales record. With “Grand Champ” hitting number one on the Billboard 200, he became the first artist to have his first five albums go number one.
“Grand Champ” moved 312,000 units it’s first week, down considerably from his last release (440,000 for “The Great Depression”). According to DMX, this will be his final album.
X claims he is sick of the direction hip-hop is headed in and would rather stick to making movies. In preparation for his new career he has already started his own Bloodline Film company.
