In addition to his project with Jay Dee (check the news piece), the always productive (no pun intended) Madlib also has a project coming up with the equally prolific MF Doom. Much like the bootleg Jaylib album floating around, a “Madvillain” bootleg has been on the net for some 6 months. That particular version was just early recording sessions (and very ill) and little of it will appear on the final version. It was reported some time ago that Madlib would be lending Busta Rhymes some beats, it turns out that it will be several beats that appeared on the Madvillain bootleg. Speaking of Madlib being prolific, word is he gave Doom 180 beats to chose from. No solid date is set but they are shooting for a December release…

Some exiting news for all you Pete Rock fans. The Soul Brother’s upcoming BBE release will be a double disk and will feature mixes of INI’s classic “Centre of Attention” and selections from the vaulted Deda LP. “Underground Hip-hop Soul Classics” has not been given an official release date. Speaking of Pete though, why the hell aren’t more cats knocking down his door for beats these days? The man is one of the greatest producers of all-time and has never been caught slipping.
