Def Jam co-founder and President Russell Simmons is once again calling for a boycott of a major corporation. This time it is fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken. Simmons was recently featured in an advertisement taken out by PETA in the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky.
The boycott is being lead by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and Russell has said he is just offering his support to their cause. Recent reports have indicated that KFC and their parent company Yum Brands have been slaughtering their chickens in an uncivilized manor.
Simmons recently wrote a letter to Yum Brands CEO David Novak. In the letter Simmons said, “What KFC does to 750 million chickens each year, on your watch, is not civilized or acceptable, and you can change that. I am called for a boycott of all KFC restaurants until my friends at PETA tell me you have agreed to be kinder in your practices.”
