One of hip-hop’s most militant figures is returning with his long-awaited LP. Paris will drop “Sonic Jahad” on September 23rd, and it is surely to be one of the most political albums of all-time. It is said to be a “focused and brutal condemnation of the ills of society to date. Waging righteous warfare (hence the title) on all that he perceives as being wrong with world in this current political climate of manufactured fear and “War on Terror,” he covers such issues as the New World Order, the manmade origins of AIDS, military lies and propaganda, police brutality and the embarrassing state that hip hop is currently in.” Allow me to make a prediction, Paris will find himself in some mysterious and contrived legal problems within the next 6 months…
Even though 50’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” just slipped out of the Billboard Top 10 for the first time since it’s February release, sales are still going strong. Last week the album still moved 64,000+ units. Damn, some cats don’t sell that many in their career…
Since the release of “Blueprint 2” all cats have been talking about is Jay’s retirement and “The Black Album.” Given Jay’s work ethic over the last 7 years, it is hard to imagine his hanging up the mic. Does anyone else think he may be playing us just to hype the record? He may have dropped a little hint today on 106 & Park when he said he may comeback in 4 years…
