Despite Ra’s recent claims in an interview that his Aftermath debut “Oh My God” was nearly complete and on it’s way to our ears, the man has split from Aftermath. Ra had been signed to the label for 3 years and his album has been subject to countless delays. The latest word was that Dre just wasn’t happy with the album, particularly the hooks.
In a recent interview Ra spoke about the album in great detail and it was apparent he did not have much control, although he seemed optimistic and happy about the situation. It looks as if he was just putting on a happy face because he has left Aftermath in a mutual decision.
After rumors circulated late last night on the net, it was confirmed this afternoon. “Rakim and Aftermath have mutually decided to part ways,” Rakim’s manager Zach Katz told AllHipHop. “Rakim is presently in talks with three powerhouse record companies.” Now let’s just hope that all his work with Dre leaks and he turns around and makes an album with Primo.
