Philadelphia native and Roc-A-Fella Records emcee Beanie Sigel was arrested and charged with attempted murder on Friday. Sigel, aka Dwight Grant, turned himself in after a show in New Jersey. Beans was wanted for a shooting that took place earlier in the week in West Philadelphia.
Reports say that Sigel shot Terrence Speller, once in the foot and once in the stomach, outside the Pony Tail Bar on West 52nd street on Tuesday, July 1. Speller had been arguing with two women outside the club, at 1:00am Speller was with two other men when a Cadillac pulled and a man identified as Beanie got out. Sigel then apparently asked one of the women whom she had been arguing with, she indicated Speller and Beans shot him twice.
While Speller remains in critical condition, Beanie’s lawyer Fortunato Perri Jr., maintains his client’s innocence. In the meantime, Sigel has been released on bail. He is also currently awaiting trial for aggravated assault.
