This Saturday (July 5th) at the Darknights Festival in Toronto, veteran emcee D.O. will try and make his mark in history. The Toronto native will try and get his name in the Guinness World Book of Records for the longest freestyle. The record is being labeled by Guinness as “Rhyme Till You Can’t Rhyme No More.”
With no record held at the moment, Guinness informed D.O. he would have to rhyme for an hour to get his name in the record books. D.O. has some other ideas though, “I intend to rap till my voice gives out. I also want to do this to let the everyone know that Toronto has World Class emcees.” His goal is to reach eight hours so that the record would be very difficult to break.
Organizers are expecting about 40,000 people to witness the event. D.O. is scheduled to rhyme from 11:00am to 7:00pm, with a 15 minute break being imposed by the Guinness staff. Following his freestyle frenzy, some of Toronto best-known artists – Saukrates, Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, Brassmunk, IRS, In Essence and Jully Black – will perform in concert.
