The buzz started about 2 years ago, Tribe was getting back together. Tip and Phife addressed it and said it was possible but nothing solid ever came out of it. Until now. The legendary crew from Queens will reunite and begin recording a new album in July.

What really brought it to the forefront was the whole Jam Master Jay thing,” Phife told allhiphop. “We just wanted to be Run-DMC. Me and Q-Tip grew up around the corner from them. Those were our heroes”

The seminal group released their first album (“People’s Instinctive Travels…”) in 1990 and was largely credited in setting off the jazz/hip-hop fusion. The group went on to release another classic in “Low End Theory” the following year, and another outstanding album in ’93, “Midnight Marauders.” The group disbanded after “The Love Movement” in 1998.
