50 Cent’s still high on the charts–#4 after 8 weeks–and he won’t stop. On April 15 hip-hop’s hardest working man dropped his 2-hour DVD complete with a separate CD featuring 3 new songs: “True Loyalty” with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, the Eminem-produced “8 Mile Road” (G-Unit Remix) with Banks and Yayo and the Dre-produced “In Da Hood” with Brooklyn. It’s a brilliant business move considering the 8 Mile DVD and 50’s debut Get Rich Or Die Tryin… both quickly sold millions.
The DVD breaks down into four parts. The documentary is all about 50’s past. He speaks on his shooting, Jam Master Jay and introduces us to his grandfather and son. Next up we hear from Tony Yayo straight from his cell block. Seems like Yayo’s just trying to keep his head up until he’s released in September. The second section, The Music Videos includes “Wanksta,” “In Da Club” and their behind-the-scenes footage. Third, 50 and his G-G-G-G-Unit rock the crowd at a live show in Detroit with “Not Like Me,” “Patiently Waiting” and more. Plus we get an exclusive backstage look.
The bonus material is his Sessions @ AOL and the 8 Mile DVD trailer. So what’s really good about this DVD? Besides making 50’s pockets thicker, it’s a deeper look into the life of one of today’s biggest pop stars. It’s bigger than hip-hop right now. He started from the street and built a brand, G-Unit that’s–um–selling units. Spend time with your boy.
