Gangsta rap pioneer Ice-T has always been one of the biggest advocates of Internet distribution and MP3 trading. Along with Chuck D, Ice has maintained that the Internet will revolutionize the music industry by cutting out all the middle men. And much like Chuck, he is making strides to begin the revolution by entering into a deal with Kazaa and Altnet to release his new album, “Repossession.”

The album, which is a group effort with Trigga Da Gambla and Smooth Da Hustla, will be available to Kazaa peer-to-peer users for $4.99. Two singles (“Bang Bang” and “Swazy”) are available for free, and the rest of the album can be downloading using Altnet’s pay content listings. “We are thrilled to have Ice T as the first multi-platinum artist using Altnet’s technology,” Bermeister said in a statement. “Altnet enables content owners to tap into the promotional and commercial power of a peer-to-peer environment.”

“With technology today, artists don’t need to rely on the workings of a traditional label to get their music to consumers, and without the label being in the middle to get a stake, it enables artists like myself to generate more revenue through selling product ourselves,” Ice-T added in a statement.
