The beef between the Eastern Conference and Demigod camps that started up last year is keeping heated. After their ordeal in NYC, Cage came at Esoteric with “Haterama Pt.1” and Esoteric responded last week (dissing Copywrite as well) with “Do It.” Esoteric certainly got the better of round one, but Cage and Copywrite have responded already with “Boston Crab on a Stick” and “Baked Boston Bitch” respectively. I was expecting more from Copywrite considering his vicious battle rhymes, he still gets some nice shots in though. Cage got the best line, referring to the title of Eso’s last album, “Dangerous connection?/You in a boys ass with no condom.” I can’t call this one, I just want Copywrite and Apathy to square off…
To no surprise, Eminem raked in more dough than any other rapper in 2002. Not including “8 Mile,” he cleared $28.9 million, Jay was next at $22.7 million, followed by Baby ($11.8), Dre ($10.6), Neptunes ($8.9), Nelly ($6.6). Take a look at Nelly for a second though, $2.3 million of that money was from touring, meaning that the remaining $4.3 mill is from sales and publishing. What did he sell? 5 or 6 million albums? At about $20 an album, you do the math…
In some signing news, Koch/In The Paint made some moves this past week signing, Inspectah Deck, Goodie Mob and Turk. Word is that Big Gipp of the Goodie Mob signed a solo deal with them as well. Look for Deck to drop his sophomore album, “The Movement,” on May 22nd…
