As the summer begins to near its halfway point, fans are gearing up to attend the ever-growing list concerts. Now, Hip Hop listeners have another show to hit, as the POPPED! Music Festival 2011 has announced that it will bring the likes of Rakim, ?uestlove, Black Thought and J.Period to the stage.
In recent press release, POPPED! revealed that Hip Hop luminaries Rakim, ?uestlove and Black Thought of The Roots will grace its Philadelphia stage this September 24. Black Thought will be performing with acclaimed DJ and mixtape maestro J.Period, while fellow Roots crew member ?uestlove will spin a DJ set of his own.
This isn’t the first time Rakim and The Roots have shared the stage together. Last month, Rakim performed the entirety of his highly influential debut Paid in Full alongside The Roots. They also joined forces on the recent J.Period-produced single “In the Ghetto (Wake Up!)”.
The POPPED! Music Festival is a two-day music event that will be held in FDR Park in Philadelphia, PA on September 23 and 24. The festival is also slated to feature non-Hip Hop acts like the Hold Steady, the Shins, Girl Talk, Company of Thieves and many more.

Single-day tickets for the event are currently priced at $59.95 and can be purchased through POPPED!’s website, Ticketmaster or the Electric Factory box office. More information on the event and a complete set list can also be found at the concert’s homepage.

UPDATE: Due to bad weather forecasts, the event has moved from FDR Park to the Liacouras Center, located on Temple University’s campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
