Sitting at The Palm Restaurant in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday night, sipping on a Belvedere Martini with five olives and chomping Surf & Turf (lobster and steak), Keith Murray spoke excitedly about his fourth album “He’s Keith Murray.” Originally scheduled for an April Fool’s Day release, it’s now set to drop on April 29. Murray, who was unhappy at his previous label Jive, has jumped to his Def Squad partner’s home, Def Jam.

Already in heavy rotation, his first single, the Just Blaze-produced “Yeah Yeah U Know It” is one big party. The next single, “Candy Bar,” was produced by DJ Khalil. Both videos were shot with director Erik White. “He’s Keith Murray” boasts production by Erick Sermon and Pete Rock and of course, rhymes by Redman. Also, check for another Def Squad album coming in August.

After the private press dinner, Murray shuttled everyone in his private van to the SoHo lounge Madame X. Along the way, he blasted his new head-noddin’ tracks. At about 11:30 PM, Murray had to bounce. He was heading to North Carolina for his promo tour.

As the night went on Keith Murray was involved in a serious accident Thursday morning in Durham, NC. The rapper and his group, LOD, were traveling in a van that struck a highway railing. The van flipped and crashed into several cars, already piled up from an earlier accident. Murray and his entourage suffered minor injuries.
