Eminem isn’t the only Hip Hop super-star looking to crush the concert scene this summer. Fresh off his performance at the Museum of Modern Art this week, news broke that Kanye West will be headlining the 2011 Festival Mawazine: Rhythms of the World in Morocco.
The festival, which is funded by Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, is set to celebrate its tenth year anniversary from May 20 until May 28 at the Singersroom in Morocco. Joining Mr. West on stage will be Shakira, Lionel Ritche, Joe Cocker and the legendary Quincy jones, whose numerous compositions have been sampled by dozens of Hip Hop artists, including Mobb Deep, Lord Finesse and Kanye West himself on 2007’s “Good Life.”
The Festival Mawazine will also boast performances from international acts like the Bharati Show, Mory Kante, Nass El Ghiwane and Hindi Zahra, as well as Lady Gaga’s producer/DJ RedOne. In addition, there will be art exhibitions, performances, street shows and workshops held during the entirety of the festival.
More information about tickets and performances can be found on the festival’s website.
