Early Monday morning, TMZ.com confirmed Nicki Minaj would be the opening act for Britney Spears’ upcoming North American tour. Last week, as negotiations broke down with the previous opening act, Enrique Iglesias, sources indicated that Spears’ camp was eyeing Nicki Minaj as a potential replacement.

As both sides negotiated terms of the deal, Nicki dodged questions, only telling MeetThaDealer.com, “I don’t know yet. Britney’s a beautiful girl whom I love.”

“Sources involved in the negotiation tell TMZ … the deal was signed several days ago, and Britney is elated,” TMZ reports. “Everyone involved in the concert is relieved Enrique Iglasias’ ego couldn’t handle opening for Britney and feel Nicki will be infinitely better.”

It would seem Spears has an eye on Rap and R&B artists of late, since she is also joining Rihanna for a remix of the single “S&M.” The pair confirmed the remix with a series of Twitter posts to each other over the weekend.

As for Nicki, she is currently on the road as part of Lil Wayne’s “I Am Still Music Tour.” Wayne’s tour is currently scheduled to end on May 1 during a performance at East Rutherford, NJ’s “Bamboozle Festival.” The North American leg of Spears’ tour would begin June 17.
