Revive Music Group will celebrate their fifth anniversary with a tribute concert dedicated to Keith “Guru” Elam‘s Jazzmatazz series. The show will take place on April 21 at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge. The event comes  a year and two days after the untimely death of the emcee best known for founding the group Gang Starr.

The show will feature members of the Elam family, along with several of Guru’s collaborators through the Jazzmatazz series. Between 1993 and 2007, Guru released four volumes of Jazzmatazz as well as a greatest hits compilation. The series involved Jazz greats such as Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd and Herbie Hancock, along with Hip Hop luminaries such as J Dilla, Common and Kool Keith.

Information about the event is available here.

UPDATE: Babygrande Records founder and president Chuck Wilson told HipHopDX the following: “We lost an international treasure with Guru’s passing. The music he made with DJ Premier as Gang Starr and as a solo artist had a profound impact on my life. It was an honor to share the evening with his friends and family and to make a direct donation to his son KC on behalf of Group Home and Babygrande [Records].”

Last year, Babygrande released the third album from Gang Starr Foundation outfit Group Home, Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal.
