On early Friday morning Irv Gotti was met with an unpleasant surprise; his Manhattan offices were subject to a search by Federal authorities. The Murder Inc. head honcho is under investigation for possible financial ties to a Jamaica Queens drug lord, Kenneth McGriff. The feds seized documents and computer drives to search through in hopes of a discovery.
Irv, or “fat cupcake eatin’ motherfucker” as he is known to 50 Cent, grew up in Brooklyn with McGriff and has remained in contact with him. McGriff produced and co-wrote the Murder Inc film “Crime Partners 2000.” According to the LA Times, the two men are often seen together at the Murder Inc offices.
In the 80s, McGriff was head of a crack ring called the Supreme Team. Most of the members were arresting in 1988 and spent 10+ years in prison. Authorities are looking to uncover if Irv used drug money to finance his record label. They are also suspicious of other money laundering and his possible connections to gangs.
