Each year thousands of artists, fans and media members converge on Austin, Texas to see a mix of new and established acts during South by Southwest. And while Austin has always been a great place for emcees like Pill, Freddie Gibbs and Big K.R.I.T. to establish themselves, someone like Kanye West occasionally joins the proceedings. West last appeared in Austin in 2009, at the Fader Fort Venue with Mr. Hudson, Big Sean and Consequence.

There have been hints that West would join SXSW, but a recent video posted to Vevo gave an unofficial confirmation as West’s “Runaway” played quickly before the video faded to black. Earlier, the music site Idolator.com confirmed the news.

“Well let’s have a toast: we can now exclusively report that it’s true—Kanye will be taking the stage at SXSW on March 19 at midnight at the VEVO Power Station,” wrote Idolator’s Becky Bain. “The good news came via a new video montage of Kanye’s videos, various appearances and interviews. Watch it below and prepare to see him turn on all of the lights (at a 1950s-era power plant in Austin, no less) this Saturday!”
