After appearing on numerous television shows and over a dozen feature films, Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man is ditching the rapper/actor tag so many of his peers have been labeled with. While speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Meth explained looking for success in both the music and acting world as well as his latest big screen role.

“I’m an entertainer, so in whatever form I entertain,” Meth explained. “The thing about being a rapper is that you have more control over your form, whereas with acting you have to compromise a lot. You can’t go in there with the same mentality of ‘I’m a fucking star. This is all about me.’ No, it’s not about you! You start stripping those layers away and becoming whatever that character is supposed to be and identifying with it.”

Method Man can be seen plying his craft in the upcoming movie The Mortician 3D. As the title suggests, Meth will play the lead character—a funeral director who seeks redemption after meeting a child fleeing from the morgue. Despite the movie’s morbid feel, Method Man says he’s not into anything involving death; it’s one of the main reasons he avoided the Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious. Instead he chose to remember B.I.G. during happier times.

“Once when we went inside this airport [in North Carolina],” Meth realled. “There was a lady at the security gate and Big went through and ‘beep, beep, beep’ and he’s telling the lady, ‘Look, I got a bullet in me, so the machine’s gonna keep going off. Why don’t you pat me down?’ And she was like ‘No, just keep going through the machine.’ And he kept going through and through…I just thought that was hilarious…After a while you’d forget he was fat or had those googly-eyes, you’d just see a funny motherfucker…I think Big would have been big on screen.”
