Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was recorded at New York’s famed Electric Ladyland Studios, Honolulu, Hawaii’s Avex Recording Studio and Burbank, California’s Glenwood Place. For the Chicago, Illinois emcee/producer’s next project, a collaborative effort with longtime mentor Jay-Z, the duo is making their own studio. The New York Post’s “Page Six” column reports that West and Jay-Z are presently recording Watch The Throne on a floor of New York’s Mercer Hotel.
Sources saw crews studio equipment being delivered to the pair’s occupied floor, and there have been several noise complaints.
Located in the SoHo district of the city, Mercer Hotel is nearby the Kardashian “Dash” boutique West helped design, as well as former Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash’s latest studio, DD172.
Neither Jay-Z or Kanye West has confirmed these reports, which surfaced this morning. Watch The Throne’s first single is “H.A.M.” released last month.
