Four the past four years, fans have been patiently waiting the major label debut of Detroit emcee Big Sean. Now, the XXL 2010 Freshman and DX Next alum will finally get his big chance later this year with Finally Famous: The Album.
Although his label has yet to set a permanent date, news broke that Sean’s long-awaited debut will finally hit stores this March via Def Jam/G.O.O.D. Music. Sean, who released his widely successful mixtape Finally Famous 3: Big with Don Cannon last October, also took to Facebook today to release his debut LP’s first single “My Last,” featuring Chris Brown and production from No I.D.
“I remember in the eighth grade I told myself, man I’m going to be signed to Def Jam,” he said. “I always put it out into the universe and I think it was written for me. I was meant to inspire people, I was meant to make music. There’s been so many nights where instead of going out I’ve had to work and was depressed so I feel like I deserve this. This is what I was meant to do.”
In other news, legendary pianist and singer Singer Elton John announced that he will be joining British rapper Plan B on an upcoming song. The duo, in addition of budding British pop sensation Jessie J, will be recording a cover of the song “Hard Times” in order to raise money for the victims of last year’s in Pakistan.

Rapper Plan B explained that he was inspired to set up this recording by Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed, who had starred in the emcee’s directorial debut Ill Manors. He says that he feels that many media outlets had not been giving proper press to the disastrous floods, which ultimately took the lives of over 1,500 Pakistani citizens.
“The reason why I first thought of doing the single is because of this guy Riz Ahmed in my film [Ill Manors] – he’s Pakistani and he put on an event after the floods first happened,” he said. “I felt it was wrong that probably because of the shit going on in the Middle East with the war that, as Westerners, we didn’t seem to give a fuck about Pakistani people…kids were dying in floods, but it wasn’t promoted heavily over here as it was going on. Haiti was promoted when that happened, but it didn’t happen in Pakistan.” (ContactMusic.com)
This isn’t Sir Elton John’s first work with Hip Hop artists. The singer famously joined Eminem for a rendition of “Stan” at the 43rd Grammy Awards, and he most recently worked with Kanye West and a host of other singers on West’s “All of the Lights” off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Finally, DX would like to send their congratulations to N.O.R.E. of Capone-N-Noreaga. The Super Thug revealed via Twitter last night that he proposed to his girlfriend last night over dinner and is now officially engaged to be married.

(February 7)
UPDATE: Despite February 7’s Def Jam Records press release, announcing that Big Sean’s Finally Famous would release in March, the Detoit, Michigan emcee told XXLMag.com on Tuesday that he’s not aware. “I’m not gonna say it’s not coming out in March, cause maybe [Def Jam has] some plans, but I, personally, don’t know if it’s coming out in March. But if they say it’s coming out in March, it’s coming out in March. I’m feeling a little bit more summer, but they’re the ones putting it out. I could be wrong.”
