On December 17th Nas will release his 7th LP, “God’s Son.” After reclaiming many of his fans again with “Stillmatic,” Nas took a step back by forming an alliance with Murder Inc. Yet, they are nowhere to be found on the album. No collaboes with Ja Rule, no production from Irv Gotti. Sadly, for the first time, there is also no Primo. Nas actually employs some relatively unknown beatmakers for this one.

Among those to produce are Salaam Remi, Agile and Toronto’s own Saukrates. There was also an interesting late minute collaboration that Nas made with a producer, I think the guy may rhyme too. Eminem appears on the album, only behind the boards though. Interestingly, it is on this song that Nas lashes out at R&B rappers who “fucked up the game.” Does this mean Ja Rule?

Speaking of beef, Nas also makes some interesting statements regarding Biggie. On the track “Real Niggaz,” he talks about clashing with the late great. “Y’all don’t know about my Biggie wars/ Who you thought ‘Kick in the Door’ was for?/ But that was my heart/ Y’all still trippin’ off that Jigga shit.”
