At 3:15 in the morning on Wednesday, Queen Latifah was driving her 2003 Cadillac Escalade north on the U.S. 101 when she made an unsafe lane change. The California Highway Patrol were behind her and they pulled her over and took a sobriety test; which she failed.
Officer Alex Delgadillo said that Latifah, aka Dana Owens, was very cooperative and made no attempts to resist arrest. Latifah was taken to a nearby jail where she remained until she posted the $2500 bail. She has received a court date on December 12th.
This poses an interesting question, given that she was driving a 7000 pound vehicle, should her fine or punishment be larger? If she were in an accident, the damage would certainly be much worse.
