While Ja Rule got little sympathy from rival emcee 50 Cent for his pending two-year jail sentence, the rapper he shared the stage with prior to the 2007 arrest that led to his Tuesday sentencing had some words of encouragement for Ja.
“That’s super crazy and very disappointing,” Wayne told DJ Drama and Karen Civil during an interview on Shade 45 Satellite Radio. “Me and Ja were kinda locked up together. We was in the same holding tank and everything that same night. We went to court that next day together. And to know he got them two, and I’ve already dealt with the situation and came home. I would imagine it’s a hard pill to swallow.”
Ja Rule and Lil Wayne performed together at the Beacon Theater in July of 2007. Both emcees were arrested in separate incidents on July 23 and eventually charged with criminal possession of a weapon as well as drug possession charges.
During the interview, where topics ranged from fake concert promotions to the new look Miami Heat, Wayne confirmed that Tha Carter IV is slated for a February 2011 release. The album will likely feature some of Wayne’s first written material in years—as he said he spent the majority of his nine-month prison sentence writing rhymes. The first single, 6’7” was released earlier this week, and Wayne expressed confidence in its reception from fans.

“[It’s] a monster…it’s a beast,” he added. “Hopefully it shows people where I’m at lyrically…It don’t matter where I went. I try to be better than my last regardless.”
The single features Cash Money member Cory Gunz, and Wayne explained that while he wrote the treatment for the upcoming video, he will be assisted by famed director Hype Williams.
