After releasing one of 2002’s best albums in the “Daylight EP,” Aesop Rock is back in the studio ready to crank another classic. As of right now, he is looking at a mid-2003 release. Reports out of the Def Jux camp say the Camp Lo will be making an appearance on the album. That is an odd pairing if I have ever heard one.
Cannibal Ox is also in the lab working on their sophomore effort. Expectations will be high after their after “The Cold Vein,” considered to be a classic by many (including myself). Look for that one around this time next year. In the meantime, Vast Aire will be working on a solo album as well.
Murs has completed his first Def Jux album, slated for an early 2003 release. The album will feature production from Ant (Atmosphere), Blockhead (Aesop Rock) and of course, El-P. According to a credible source, the album is incredible.
El-Producto is also keeping busy, working on a jazz album for Thirsty Ear Records. The album will feature jazz greats William Parker, Mathew Ship, Daniel Carter and others. The album should be ready in the winter of 2003 as well.
