The term “keep it real” is tossed around a lot in hip hop. Not many have kept it realer than Sway and Tech. Formerly on KKBT, The Wake Up Show always supported the underground and made the careers of countless artists. A certain Shady emcee got his big break freestyling on The Wake Up Show.
When KKBT switched ownership, the new owners told Sway and Tech to play commercial hip hop. So what did they do? They said ‘no’ and left the station after 8 years. It has been nearly 2 years since The Wake Up Show has been off the air. Sway, Tech and Rev will be on the airwaves once again, on rival station Power 106.
Before going off the air, The Wake Up Show was heard in 19 countries each day by 20 million people. No doubt, underground heads worldwide are rejoicing.
