Brooklyn, New York emcee Joell Ortiz has been with E1 Entertainment (f/k/a Koch Records) for over three years. That ended yesterday, according to Ortiz’s Twitter. With his second official solo album, Free Agent planned for release on November 30, the emcee said the title may be true of his recording industry status.

Joell signed to the label in 2007, after leaving Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment after a year-plus tenure. Soon after signing, Ortiz released The Brick: Bodega Chronicles, which featured production from Alchemist and Showbiz. Last year, Ortiz also joined Joe Budden, Crooked I and Royce Da 5’9″ in releasing Slaughterhouse, the group of the same name’s first release.
HipHopDX spoke with E1 yesterday, and the label did say that Free Agent is still planned for November 30 release.
