In the recent past Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex was accused of taking money in exchange for playing records. Not only did Flex deny the accusations but he was backed by Emmis Broadcasting, which owns Hot 97. Emmis also owns another radio heavyweight, Power 106 in Los Angeles.

Now it is Power 106 and Damion Young that has the fingers pointed at them. Ironically, it was Chuck Phillips, the writer of the highly controversial Pac/Big story, that wrote the story in the LA Times. According to the article, Power 106 has played Shade Sheist’s new single “Money Owners” over 380 times in the past few weeks.

The interesting part is that is not only Damion Young Shade’s producer but Emmis Broadcasting finances Shade’s label, Baby Dee Entertainment. As Chuck Phillips points out, that is a major conflict of interest.
