Last month, Detroit, Michigan producer/emcee Black Milk released the boldly-titled Album of the Year on Fat Beats/Decon Records. The veteran producer for the likes of Slum Village, Pharoahe Monch and Little Brother has a plethora of other projects in the works, most notably his super-group Random Axe, with hometown emcee Guilty Simpson and Heltah Skeltah’s Sean Price.
In a brief interview with Detroit’s DJ Butter, Milk acknowledged that “end of the year, should be droppin’,” referring to the anticipated full-length. Black Milk also revealed that Duck Down Records, the present label home to Price, would be who released the project, though all three artists come from different labels. “I’m doin’ all the beats, all the production. We’re like 90% done,” said BM, admitting he felt two additional songs should be recorded.
He described the music as “Ghetto” “raw” and “hardcore.” HipHopDX will keep you updated.
Album of the Year, which debuted in the Top 200 of the charts, is available now.
