Last night in New York Alicia Keys held her 8th annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball event. The fundraiser for AIDS brought out plenty of Keys’ friends and collaborators out to support. Among those who came were Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Usher, Jay Sean, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Hudson, and Whitney Houston.
The event reportedly raised $2.4 million for AIDS patients who can’t afford treatment. “It’s my heart and soul,” Keys told MTV. “Since the beginning, we’ve been very driven to do incredible work. I’m proud to show what four to five women who are very dedicated can do.”
Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz performed Blueprint 3’s “On to the Next One.” Jay returned to perform “Empire State of Mind” with Keys.
