Hip Hop icon Greg Nice is gearing up to release his solo debut, The Popcycle, which is due for release on October 26, 2010. As the former beat-boxer for pioneering emcee T. La Rock, Nice is best known as one half of duo Nice & Smooth, which made hits such as “Funky For You,” “Hip Hop Junkies” and “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow.”

Distributed by The Orchard, Nice’s debut will feature G-Unit member Tony Yayo as well as Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav.

In other news, Tha Regime member and Akron, Ohio emcee Ampichino is readying his next collaborative album with San Francisco, California veteran Tha Jacka, called Devilz Rejectz 2: House of the Dead. This will be a follow-up to the pair’s 2007 first outing of the same name.

Regime leader Yukmouth will appear on this album, as will Mistah F.A.B. and Berner.

In other news, DXnext alumni Pac Div a/k/a Pacific Division will headline their first New York City show at S.O.B.’s this Wednesday, September 29. Along with the Palmdale, California outfit will be Tanya Morgan’s Von Pea, whose Pea’s Gotta Have It album drops in less than a month.

In other news, Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper Max Minelli has announced a new group with Kevin Gates. The partnership was made possible by Dead Game Records, who will release the duo’s forthcoming material.

“Me and Dead Game [Records] joining forces only makes sense because they give me the backing and muscle I need to take my talents to the next level,” said Minelli Max in a press statement. “I give them another type of artist to complement Gates and a wealth of knowledge and experience in this game.  

“It’s a big showing of unity in our city and that’s something we never had. For the two dopest [rappers] in the city to be on the same team, it’s like LeBron [James] and [Dwayne] Wade coming together… Get yo’ popcorn ready.”
