Finally, the Hip Hop Theater Festival, HHTF for short, will ring in its ten anniversary this year. The festival, which will run from September 15 until October 15, will feature a number of original theater productions written and performed by theater professionals from the world of Hip Hop.

“At this, our 10th anniversary, the Hip Hop Theater Festival has come to represent much more than the words ‘theater’ and ‘festival’ can connote,” said HHTF executive director and producer Clyde Valentin. “We are very excited for this years festival and celebrating a decade of culture in action.” (AllHipHop.com

This year, the Hip Hop Theater Festival will host the New York City debuts of plays Don’t Hit Mama’s Dance Party, Radha Blank’s SEED and Where My Girls At?. Furthermore, in a departure from years past, the festival has also commissioned its first pieces of art: a collection of b-boy inspired stainless steel structures from graffiti artist Carlos “Mare139” Rodriguez.
