Originally from Connecticut, Apathy made his debut with a guest appearance on Jedi Mind Tricks’ 1997 LP. Since then he has released an incredible series of 12” singles, a homemade do-it-yourself album (“The Bootleg CD”) and was a major part of the recent Demigodz EP. Singles like “The Smackdown,” “Just Begun,” “That Ol’ Boom Bap,” and “No Joke” have earned him a strong following. Knowing underground fans, they are going to be pissed hearing this.

According to hiphopsite, Apathy has signed with Atlantic Records. Recently, Apathy was the subject of a bidding war between several major labels that all wanted his services. Interscope was apparently among those labels. However, Atlantic head A&R Mike Caren and president Craig Kallman made sure that Ap made Atlantic his new home.

Fans of Apathy know that he was scheduled to release his debut LP, “Eastern Philosophy,” at the end of this year. That is still the plan and it will come out independently, not on Atlantic. Apathy is both an emcee and a producer and is very talented at both. Be sure to check out the Demigodz “The Godz Must Be Crazy” and Apathy “The Bootleg CD,” although it is very hard to find the latter. For those saying Apathy sold out, at least let him drop a single first…he could still keep it raw like that ol’ boom bap.
