It was recently reported here at HHDX that MTV had banned Public Enemy’s new video, “Give The People What They Need.” The reason for the ban was due to images of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal. Shemia Muhammad has started an online petition for the boycott of MTV. Here is a section of the petition, to view and sign the petition go to www.petitiononline.com/No2.

“MTV has chosen to prohibit Chuck D and Public Enemy from showing a video because a political activist such as Mumia Abu-Jamal is shown briefly. I say to MTV, how HYPOCRITICAL! MTV continues to show videos that reek of lewd sexual nature and discussion of violence, drugs, violence against women, in particular Black Women.
I, Shemia Muhammad, at Here After Records stand by Chuck D’s initiative to speak the truth, and believe until MTV plays the video, like BET then the Black community and those that respect Hip-Hop should no longer watch its channel.”
