In a ceremony in Shelbyville, Kentucky this past Monday, Kentucky Governer Paul E. Patton official named September 16th “Nappy Roots Day.” The day is in honour of Kentucky’s rising rap stars, Nappy Roots. The group which is comprised of Big V, Ron Clutch, Scales, R. Prophet, B. Stille and Skinny Deville will also be honoured as official “Kentucky Colonels.
Nappy Roots Day will be part of the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship program. This organization was started by Governer Patton and it provides students the opportunity to receive money for furthering their education. Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average to be eligible.
September 17th was also a big day for the Nappy Roots as they released their first DVD. The DVD, “Nappy Roots: The According To Nappy,” will include videos, behind-the-scenes footage, on-the-road footage and more.
