Rapper/actress Queen Latifah will join country music singer and actress Dolly Parton on the silver screen in the upcoming Warner Brothers/Alcon Entertainment film Joyful Noise.
The film is about two women who must work together to save their town’s gospel choir when budget cuts threaten to shut it down. Latifah stars as a mother who takes on the role of choir director after previous director dies, while Parton will play opposite her as the deceased director’s widow.
Joyful Noise, which is being helmed by director Todd Graff, marks Dolly Parton’s first appearance in a film since 1992’s Straight Talk. Latifah was most recently seen opposite rapper Common in Just Wright.
