Genre-bending musician Tricky is preparing to release his latest album Mixed Race. The English-born singer/actor- who has worked with everyone from DJ Muggs to Alanis Morrisette – is looking to Jamaican, North African, French, American and English musical styles for Mixed Race, and says that the album’s content will center around his experiences coming from a mixed-race family.
“You sat down at the table in my house and you saw every color,” he said. “It’s made me much more open-minded than I could’ve been. I come from both worlds. I’ve been blessed because no-one can put my music in a box – it’s not black, it’s not white, it’s not female, it’s not male. I’ve spent my life going between cultures; Mixed Race is about that, and in a very direct way.”
The ten-song album boasts the single “Murder Weapon,” and will hit store shelves this October 5 on Domino Records. A tracklist can be found below.
