Video game publisher Activision is prepping the October release of the sequel to their hit music game DJ Hero, and the makers aren’t holding back when it comes to the music. From hip-hop heavyweights like Eminem, Dr. Dre and LL Cool J, to pop chart toppers like Lady Gaga and Rihanna, to even techno luminaries Deadmau5 and David Guetta, they’ve enlisted over 100 of today’s hottest artists to provide music for the game’s soundtrack.
“With DJ Hero 2, we wanted to create the ultimate party experience of 2010, and that meant not only revamping and adding social and multiplayer game modes, including full microphone support, and all-new levels of creative freedom, but also mixing and mashing hits from over 100 of the biggest and most popular artists on the planet,” said FreeStyleGames Music Director Dan Neil. “We can’t wait to drop details on which of these artists’ hottest tracks, as well as how we’ve mixed them together exclusively for the game, later this year.”
DJ Hero 2 is also upping the ante in the gameplay department. The game will feature a number of new gameplay modes, including DJ Battles and Party Play, that afford the player the opportunity to play with or against friends. Another new mode is the Empire Mode, in which a single player embarks on a campaign to become the head of an entertainment empire.

DJ Hero 2 is expected to hit stores this coming October. (July 16)
