Diddy‘s attorney has said that a plea bargain is not on the table for the embattled mogul in his sex trafficking and racketeering case.
Speaking to TMZ as part of the outlet’s new Tubi documentary The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, the Bad Boy boss’ attorney Marc Agnifilo made the revelation in a clip published on Saturday (September 28).

Agnifilo responded to the question of whether they would be open to a plea bargain: “Well, it’s not up to me. It’s up to Mr. Combs. I don’t see it happening… because he believes he’s innocent. He believes he’s innocent and what’s more, he believes that he needs to stand up not just for himself, for his family and for everybody who has been targeted by the federal government.
“Mr. Combs feels a) he’s innocent, which is why he’s not gonna plead guilty. B) he’s going to be truthful about this case because he wants to portray that to the people that have loved him his whole life. And I think he also feels an obligation to people in general.”

He added: “Maybe it’s Black people, maybe it’s white people, maybe it’s anybody who’s ever felt aggrieved and targeted by the government. He feels an obligation to those people to say, ‘You know what, maybe I can break the model. Maybe I can show the world that a Black man can win in federal court.’ I think he’s probably the only person I know of who might be able to actually accomplish that.”

Earlier this week, Agnifilo said he expects his client to put himself on the hot seat and testify in an attempt to clear his name.
“I don’t know that I can keep him off the stand. I think he is very eager to tell his story and I think he will tell every part of his story, including what you see on the video,” Agnifilo said. “I expect it’s going to be explained by the both of us.”

The video he was referring to was the shocking footage of Diddy brutally assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel in 2016, which leaked earlier this year and prompted an apology from the mogul who had initially denied her allegations of abuse.
Agnifilo didn’t appear concerned about his client being cross-examined about the shocking incident, nor other explosive allegations such as forcing women to have sex with male prostitutes and ordering Kid Cudi’s car to be blown up for dating Cassie.
“He has his story, and he has a story that I think only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real time,” the lawyer added. “It’s a human story. It’s a story of love, it’s a story of hurt, it’s a story of heartbreak.
“I mean, when he describes that relationship, the word he uses more than any other word is ‘heartbreak.’ He was heartbroken, she was heartbroken.”

Agnifilo’s comments echo those he made during Diddy’s unsuccessful bail appeal hearing last week, in which he attempted to paint Cassie’s assault as a lovers’ tiff.
