Common has stirred up anticipation for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer with a new promo unveiling the United States basketball team’s stacked roster.

On Wednesday (April 17), the Chicago native hyped up the global athletics event that is scheduled to commence on July 26 later this year by announcing those who will be hooping on behalf of Team USA on the grandest stage of them all.

“What if everyone could come together?” he begins. “What if dreams came true? What if America’s greatest basketball players all stacked on one team?”

Referencing the 1992 squad that came to be known as the “Dream Team,” the 52-year-old branded the new lineup the “Redeem Team,” adding: “What if this was the best of them all? What if this team took on the toughest Olympic field ever? […] What if I told you it wasn’t a question? This summer, the dream comes true at the Paris Olympics.”

According to the official website of Team USA, the final platoon is made up of Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), and Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves).

They will be joined by Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).

A longtime enthusiast of the sport, the Be hitmaker has participated in numerous NBA events in the past and is often spotted sitting courtside at Chicago Bulls games.

Last year, he even recalled being at the receiving end of scathing feedback from basketball legend Michael Jordan after he participated in the 2010 NBA All-Star Celebrity game.

During an interview with Men’s Health, the Grammy-winning rapper elaborated on his history with the six-time champion as he used to be a ball boy for the Bulls back in the day.

The “Come Close” hitmaker then spoke about how His Airness watched him perform at the House of Blues a few years back, before delving into a story about the freak athlete critiquing his hooping skills.

“I just played in the celebrity game and hit the last free throws to seal the game,” he said about a photograph of the two together at the concert. “When I greeted him, he told me to stick to rapping. He grounded me in this picture, for sure.”

Over the same chat, the rap veteran also revealed that he pursued Hip Hop after getting injured playing basketball during his junior year of high school.
