Nexx School artist steps out from Reno Nevada, P-Dub has persued this business for the purpose of taking his career to the next level, being the one to put his city on the map, while opening doors for others in ‘The Biggest Little City‘, which is coincidentally the album title. He states emphatically why he went independent. “Just got tired of all the broken promises, the shadyness, so I decided to do it myself. I gotta give props to my producers Macadou, Young Peezy and Tiec Toc”. Thirteen years of work and I have to say, it has not defeated his sense of humor, as you will see when he responds to certain questions.

Rhythm: How old are you, if you wish to disclose that info?

P: The initials of my name, just keepin’ it simple.

Now alright, follow me here people Paul Walker!!? (where’s the Dub in the name), but it’s all good. P’s music made me take notice, after all, you have not heard rappers out of Reno, have you? Well P-dub brings the production styles up there with Dr.Dre, flows like Jermaine Dupree with vocal similarity to Too-Short. That combination gives you enough interesting tracks on his album to listen to. Primary instant, his three song promotional CD, contains “Is There a Party” a G-thang, funk sort of song, the vocalist singing laced the hook, not pushing that gangster talk, but the weekend type of party scene mood.

R: What made you want this life style, what inspired you to rap?

P: I’ve always felt, I was good at putting words together, and it was inspiring to see people become successful at something that I felt that I was good at.

P-dub admits that artist likes of Ice-Cube, KRS-One, CHUCK D, Scarface, Dr.Dre, Jay-Z, Big Daddy-Kane and Missy Elliott are all artist he likes and would seek out to work with at some point, nevertheless his focus remains his city being the talk, since “My first couple of albums never made it to the shelf due to the labels I was on.” No animosity there, as his crowning achievement has been releasing his own album. In the same token when the question was pushed a little further here comes more of that humor.

R: Who would you care to work with right now (this time no genre exclusion)?

P: Janet Jackson/J Lo (Yeah like who wouldn’t! P wouldn’t!).

P-dub will open the doors for the Reno scene to be taken seriously, while he wants the world to feel his music, and bring something a little different to rap, other than the style that we are used to. Paul also sees rap has been holding steady, “the new artist artist keep setting trends, Nelly and Ludacris, keep giving others inspiration. You can be yourself while being successful.”

As his moniker will be to keep it street, meanwhile giving something for all ages to listen to, as his favorite songs from the current CD, “To Whom It May Concern” and “The Biggest Little City.” Summarizing this interview, P-Dub has what it takes to make an impact, he’s serious enough to be in the industry but not serious enough whereas the business makes him notorious. Mr.Walker gives props to all the fore-mentioned producers also Shorty-T, Sean-T and Sandman from the Bay. If you would like to sample some of P-Dub, The Biggest Little City, www.775music.com is the way to it.
