I just had to this profile on Aceyalone because I’m feeling he’s the one rapper who doesn’t get the props he deserves. Too many people don’t know about Aceyalone, and they should ! Now maybe you only started checking for underground when Eminem’s Slim Shady LP came out, but that’s still no excuse, he’s been in the game for too long.

On the dawn of what has become Acey’s seventh album release ( yeah that’s right I said seven LPs ), we should all acknowledged him for the due’s that he’s paid, and the consistency in which he carries himself with day in and day out. Acey first got his start with Freestyle Fellowship, a group who has been monumental in creating and maintaining the now thriving LA underground circuit. Their albums, dating back to 1989 with “To Whom It May Concern” and “Inner City Griots”, were followed by his three solo LP’s “All Balls Don’t Bounce”, “A Book Of Human Language” and recently released “Accepted Eclectic” have all cought more critical acclaim than Crouching Tiger – Hidden Dragon by elavated hiphop spirits everywhere. Considered a little “too much” for your average casual listener. But listening to a few Aceyalone albums in a row is like going on a mission in space searching for long, lost original styles rhyme styles that other rappers nowadays haven’t expedited for either. The new album is toned down a pace from Acey’s previous races, probably an attempt to connect with a braoder range of people, but don’t get me wrong no skills were sacrificed. If that isn’t enough Acey The Faceman for ya, check his “Project Blowed” project, or his “Who Framed The A-Team” LP with rhyme mate Abstact Rude. The A-Team’s album, which is a compilation of works from 1994-99, is one of the most complete albums I’ve ever heard before. Tracks like “Like This Like That”, “Me & My Main”, and “Acey The Face Man” are a perfect example of Acey’s Versatility. Fast or slow, ahead or behind new school, whatever the case may be, you know Acey’s bound to rip it. And if you still haven’t recognized any of the aforementioned works by Acey, you might know him from Dilated Peoples “Platform EP”. One of the lyrical highlights of the album – Iriscience and Acey going back and forth. But if that’s the only verse that comes to mind, then you owe it to yourself to get cought up on a major page in underground culture. And if not for yourself, then you atleast owe it to Acey man……. C’mon show a brother some love.

The new album “Accepted Eclectic” is now available on NuGruv / Ground Control Reords. Go cop it ! [.DX]
