What’s up world, if you’re into jazzy beats and good feelin’ music, you must have been as happy as I was with the releases lately. First off, the highly anticipated follow-up single from the Sound Providers “Who Am I” ft Grap Luva. Grap is Pete Rock’s younger brother for those who don’t know, you need to be checkin’ the Y.S.B. The b-side “Fresh Rhymes” is just as dope. Other smooth joints include the new Promo of the LoopTroop’s “Prime Time w/ Chosen Few” – bananas.
M.O.P. returned with a brand new single from the new Rawkus/D.I.T.C. collabo, that ones called “Pounds Up” and continues bangin’ where their album left off. L-Fudge got on a track with Mr. Complex and turned it out in a “NY Minute”. Camp Lo made a long awaited return with “Trouble Man” being the sure banga’, and “Cooler” the b-side. For all the people who miss the original Group Home, you’ll be able to get a fix this week at your local record store. Lil Dap released a solo 12″ “Brooklyn Zone w/ Ghetto Love”, and The Home got together with Agallah to create “Handle Your B.I. w/ Streetlife”.
On the independent tip, you got to check DL & Tech12’s release “Spit Forever w/ The Weak”. Definitely the independent gem of the last couple of weeks. Def Jux got to releasing it’s second single, again involving Cannibal Ox’s VastAir and Vord. This one’s called “Vein w/ A B-Boys Alpha”. If anyone remembers the stellar Tags Of The Times Vol.2 LP that was released out of Japan, they recently re-released a bunch of singles with unreleased b-sides and remixes to them.
Be on the lookout for J-Treds, El Da Sensai, Mike Ladd and many others – Certified Hotness. Canadian Juno winners Swollen Members released another single from the amazing Balance LP, this single’s for “Lady Venom” with a previously unreleased “New Details” ft. Mark B. from the U.K. and cuts by Babu of the legendary Beat Junkies.

If you still haven’t copped Aceyalone’s “Eclectic Accepted” LP, then you’re sleeping. And if you still haven’t got the “Porn Again” LP from the Smut Peddlers, then you have serious problems. Speaking of honorary Smut members, I had the privilege of hearing unreleased material from MHz member Copywrite. The work is slated to be released on his up and coming album, or released on the MHz album coming up shortly on Eastern Conference Records. “Fuck Sound Check” and “For The Ladies” are incredible pieces of work, and probably the best work I’ve heard for a while. Peace out to Mighty Mi, Eon and Cage for showing me a good weekend, and what a real live performance is all about.
Good night kiddies…… stay tuned.
