VannDa continues to make headlines this year with his inclusion in the annual Forbes ’30 Under 30’ Asia-Pacific list.

This year’s “brightest music and sports stars” combines 30 entertainers and athletes, including seven musicians from Asia.

The 25-year-old Cambodian hip hop superstar’s profile reads, in part, “VannDa’s tight Khmer and English raps and use of Cambodian traditional instruments have elevated the artist to regional notoriety, touring in Thailand and Singapore after releasing his second album Skull 2 (Season 1) in June.”

Other musicians who made it to this year’s list are Singaporean electro-pop singer Shye, South Korean singer-songwriter and producer LØREN (who both performed earlier this year at SXSW’s Tiger Den), Hong Kong’s rising Cantopop singer MC Cheung Tin-fu, K-pop acts NewJeans and La Sserafim, and Mumbai-based singer and DJ Ambika Nayak.

According to Forbes, the candidates were chosen among “thousands of online submissions, as well as tap industry sources and list alumni for recommendations” and were “evaluated by the Forbes Asia team and a panel of independent, expert judges on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) funding and/or revenue, social impact, scale, inventiveness and potential.”

Last year, rappers Warren Hue (Indonesia), Yung Raja (Singapore), SYA (Malaysia), and “dystopian pop” artist Pyra (Thailand) made it to the list.
