Filipina rapper SHNTI is back with “Best Life,” a track that details the struggle for a better life while also calling attention to social inequality.
As part of the Filipino rap label, LIAB Studios, it comes as no surprise that she seamlessly integrates a message of social justice into her songs—a lyrical theme that is shared by her labelmates. She makes a statement about how while the rich get to live life without difficulties, many are still on the streets despite their hard work, rapping, “Come on, make the people aware / Make them realize that they don’t deserve to be there.”
The young rapper is part of her self-described “new generation” of female rappers in the country, who are continuously carving out spaces for women in a male-dominated industry. SHNTI is one of the hip hop acts we want to see perform at the upcoming Head In The Clouds Manila at the end of the year.
