An upcoming Netflix documentary series shares the vibrant nightlife of some of Asia’s most bustling cities. Titled Midnight Asia: Eat · Dance · Dream, the six-episode docuseries will spotlight Manila, Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, and Mumbai.
The trailer for the docuseries shows shots of different personalities and industries that thrive at night, including 85-year-old DJ Sumirock, who runs a noodle shop by day and mans the deck at Tokyo night spots. It also shows footage from FlipTop’s 10th-anniversary music festival. The battle rap league conference’s show took place in 2020, a month before the pandemic shut down the country.
“The show not only acts as a guide to these nocturnal worlds, but also provides a riveting look into stories of chasing dreams, unconventional passions or a drive to express individualism in a city teeming with millions,” shares Aloke Devichand, Manager of Original Documentary Programming at Netflix.
