Filipino rapper Ez Mil is on a hot streak.

His fiery performance of “Cultura” with fellow Filipino rapper HBOM on Wish USA Bus has since racked up 3.5 million views since it dropped a week ago, February 26.

Donning blue and red bandanas with a Philippine flag laid out between them, Ez Mil and HBOM trade bilingual bars, which “shows a blend of old and new school hip-hop and rap styles.”

Initially released in December 2020, the track tackles self-identity and staying true to one’s roots. The accompanying music video features Ez Mil and HBOM on a heist to retrieve the Book of Cultura. “An occult is what you / Think you see but this / Culture that you love is / What we’ve bled to keep,” Ez Mil sings on the hook.

Ez Mil has previously broke records with his viral performance of “Panalo” on the same platform, which has nearly 49 million views as of writing. The track has since garnered controversy for its historically inaccurate lyrics, which prompted a local official to call for his ban in Lapu-Lapu City and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines releasing a statement against “compromis[ing] history” and being conscious of our accountability on what we are conveying to our people.”

In response to the reactions and criticisms against “Panalo,” HBOM interviewed Ez Mil, where the latter apologized for “twisting the truth” regarding the song’s lyrics.
