Bow Wow said he wasn’t doing anymore interviews but linking up with Charlamagne The God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy on The Breakfast Club is the obvious exception. The 31-year-old MC, born Shad Moss, stopped by the popular Power 105.1 morning show on Thursday (April 12) and didn’t dodge a single question thrown at him, including one about the fake jet picture he used on Instagram, which birthed the #BowWowChallenge.

Here are nine things we learned about Shad Moss aka Bow Wow from his Breakfast Club interview.

He’s Truly Felt Suicidal

Bow Wow tweeted some alarming tweets earlier this month about not wanting to be here, causing fans to be concerned about his mental health. Some speculated the realities of life were likely getting to him since he’s been in the music industry since he was 6 years old.

In the interview, he explained he’s truly felt suicidal because he’s bored with life since he’s done everything he could possibly do. Charlamagne suspects there’s something else deeper going but nevertheless, his upcoming album uses suicide spelled backward as its title because its based on moments where he felt like taking his own life was the solution.

Greenlight 6 (Kind Of) Has A Release Date

Bow Wow dropped his first single “Yeaahh” off his forthcoming DJ Drama-hosted mixtape Greenlight 6 back in February. Now, he’s hinted at the tape’s release date being his daughter’s birthday, April 27. As of right now, he says he’s been hard at work on his upcoming album Edicius and so far, he’s got songs with Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill, Musiq Soulchild and Jacquees. He has plans of getting in the studio with Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmured to record a joint produced by Jermaine Dupri.

The #BowWowChallenge Show Is Really Coming

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsKTiTTWIjo

A lot of people fake-flex on social media, so the rapper/actor is taking the hashtag #BowWowChallenge — originally meant to clown him — and turning it into a television show with the help of Love & Hip Hop‘s Mona Scott-Young and CSI’s Anthony Zuiker. He also clarified why he posted a fake picture of a jet on the runway as if it were his, blaming his age and ignorance to social media for the flub. He further explained the situation, saying he was flying out to New York to do press for Growing Up Hip Hop; he saw a picture he liked and posted it — regardless if it was his or not.

“By the time I got to Atlanta, when I got home, that’s when I knew this shit is a big ass deal,” he remembered. “That’s how it all started. I started to see 50 and everyone was doing them. One thing I said was, ‘Okay, I ain’t trippin. This shit don’t get to me. I’m about to turn this around and I’ma get a check out of this.'”

Mona Scott reached out to him two months later to make a show about busting people in the act of faking the funk on IG. He called his close friend Anthony Zuiker to help pitch it. It recently got picked up and begins filming next month.

He Won A Game Against Lonzo Ball Wearing Socks

How did Bow Wow end up hooping with Los Angeles Lakers’ basketball sensation Lonzo Ball? Well, Ball wanted to get in the studio but then Bow Wow ended up challenging him to three-point shootout game after defeating an unknown Lakers teammate.

He beat the popular Laker point guard in socks and the stunning clip spread to all over the web.

He Has No Problem With Future

One of the first things addressed in the interview was Bow Wow being snuffed by a rapper in support Future. It was originally reported that Bow had said something slick about the “Mask Off” recording artist for messing around with his baby mother, Joie Chavis.

Bow Wow asserts he has no issues with Future and that he wasn’t really knocked out. He describes it as more of a football-style bum rush.

Bow Wow Fell Out With Jermaine Dupri Twice

Jermaine Dupri and Bow Wow have been rocking with each other for a long time. Like most relationships, sometimes they have grown apart, had disagreements and stopped talking to each other. Bow Wow revealed this has happened with him and Dupri twice. At one point, he admits he told JD he didn’t need him after destroying his studio over creative differences.

“I’m the only person who can press his buttons and you will see a whole ‘nother side of JD you’ve never seen,” he said. “We just got into it two days ago over the phone.”

Why He’s Not Entertaining Trippie Redd

Somehow word got around that Bow Wow was saying he runs Ohio, thereby upsetting up-and-coming rapper and fellow Ohio native Trippie Redd. However, Moss is calling it fake news. He claims he never said that and always considered Atlanta home since he was 10. He also admits he’s barely even close to his family in Ohio.

“I’m not going to go back and forth with an 18-year-old,” the rap vet said. “I’m just not. I’m in a different place. We in a different tax bracket. I’m in a whole ‘nother league. A whole ‘nother league. It’s not even worth it. What props am I getting for that? I ain’t getting no props for that.”

He’s Part Of Dogg Pound Gang

At one point in time, Bow Wow was running around with Death Row and Snoop Dogg, who has been credited as the person who gave him his rap moniker. Bow Wow reiterated he really was signed to Death Row and said it was Dogg Pound Gang member Daz Dillinger who actually grabbed him from the crowd and later gifted him with his own DPG chain. Kurupt also wrote his first rap.

During the interview, Charlamagne thought Bow Wow was insinuating he was an original DPG member, leaving him impressed — and probably filled with doubt. Although Bow Wow wasn’t really part of Tha Dogg Pound with Daz and Kurupt, Daz said he was part of the gang on Instagram.

“He’s in the gang,” Daz clarified with an Instagram clip. “He not in the group. He in the gang.” Kurupt also chimed in and called Bow Wow “stupendous.”
