Valentine’s Day 2017 (February 14) puts love and heartbreak before all else with Big Baby D.R.A.M.’s “Cute” video and Thundercat’s “Friend Zone,” which finds the Brainfeeder artist singing, “Bitch don’t kill my vibe,” over the spaced-out, funkdafied cut. Future also teamed up with the larger-than-life pop group, Maroon 5, for “Cold,” while Snoop Dogg, MadeinTYO and Desiigner linked with adidas for the “Original Is Never Finished (Remix).” We also threw in a little BJ The Chicago Kid, Keith Murray (yes, he’s back), Madchild, Rapper Big Pooh and Ty Farris, The Black Opera, and Kosha Dillz rapping for dollars outside of the 59th Grammy Music Awards.

D.R.A.M. – “Cute”

With an uncontainable grin slapped across his face, D.R.A.M.’s new video for “Cute” features the Virginia rapper sauntering into a toy store, where he discovers a puppet that looks exactly like him. Obviously pleased by this, the duo take off together and proceed to compliment every woman they encounter. They dine on burgers and fries, watch movies, eat popcorn, and even get a little frisky. Taken from his last album, Big Baby D.R.A.M., the track definitely lives up to its name. Watch it above.

Thundercat. – “Friend zone”

After sharing the first single, “Show You The Way,” Thundercat has returned with the second offering from his upcoming album, which is scheduled for a February 24 release via Brainfeeder. Titled “Friend Zone,” the otherworldly funked out jam takes the listener on a trip through the deepest recesses of the prodigious bass player’s mind as he professes his affection for an unrequited love.

Future & Maroon 5 – “cold”

Apparently, Maroon 5 is (once again) in search of a little street cred and has enlisted the help of Future for the group’s new track, “Cold.” In October, the pop-rock outfit, spearheaded by Adam Levine, collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on “Don’t Wanna Know” and it seems the formula works for them. The single coincides with Future’s Friday (February 17) release of his self-titled album. In keeping with the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the song is all about relationships. Produced by Benny Blanco and Steve Mac, the track is available here.

snoop dogg, desiigner & Madeintyo – “original is never finished (remix)”

On the heels of his “Legend” video, Snoop Dogg is back with an adidas-sponsored video for “Original Is Never Finished (Remix)” featuring Desiigner and MadeinTYO. During the 2017 Grammys, adidas Originals launched its new campaign “Original Is Never Finished,” which found the longtime company reinventing Frank Sinatra’s 1969 classic “My Way.” The video recreates the cover art to Snoop’s seminal album, Doggystyle.

bj the chicago kid – “roses”

Keeping with the Valentine’s Day theme, BJ The Chicago Kid’s “Roses” is an ode to a special someone. The R&B singer was nominated for three Grammy Awards over the weekend, but failed to take home any trophies. That’s not to say it wasn’t deserved. He simply had some stiff competition, including Solange.

keith murray – “no exceptions”

Keith Murray’s “No Exceptions” finds the veteran MC working with longtime collaborator Erick Sermon of EPMD once again. With piano notes from Diana Ross/Michael Masser’s “My Hero Is a Gun,” the track illustrates how the duo effortlessly works so well together. Whether or not this is an indication of a new project on the horizon remains to be seen, but for now, it’s a welcomed return from the seasoned New York rapper.

madchild & Joseph Rose – “Hands dirty”

Swollen Members rapper Madchild makes another appearance in a fresh visual from Joseph Rose for the Rob The Viking-produced track “Hands Dirty.” Directed by Mike Mogardo and Starving Marvel, the video was filmed in Los Angeles and at East Van Inc. Tattoo in Vancouver, BC while the duo is touring across Canada with DJ Dow Jones. The video also comes just ahead of Madchild’s forthcoming album, The Darkest Hour.

Ty Farris f. Rapper Big Pooh – “Never Giving Up”

After finally revealing his full length album, Room 39, Detroit’s Ty Farris is busy rolling out singles and videos in support of the project. His most recent single, “Never Giving Up,” features Little Brother’s Rapper Big Pooh, who also just released an album of his own titled Everything 4 Sale. Find Room 39 here with more outstanding features from artists like Royce Da 5’9 and Scolla.

The black opera- “beautiful city”

The Black Opera — Magestik Legend and Jamall Bufford — recently appeared on CNN, where they discussed the U.S. educational system, specifically the placement of Betsy DeVos into the role of Secretary of Education, who they say is “bad for the inner cities.” At the same time, the duo premiered a new video for “Beautiful City,” a thoughtful presentation about what the inner city is truly like. “The video demonstration for ‘Beautiful City’ is a depiction of city pride, finding beauty in the smallest details, and what gentrification can do to a city,” Bufford said in an email statement. “It’s more about the people you love in whatever city you call home. That’s the true beauty of a city.”

kosha dillz- “grammy performance”

We gotta give it to Kosha Dillz. The Jewish rapper is committed to his hustle and for the second year in a row, set up shop in front of the Staples Center in Los Angeles where the annual Grammy Music Awards were being held. With his laptop and mic in tow, he freestyles about the people walking by him with absolutely no shame.
